Socrata (and Tyler Technologies)

Crawl Socrata portals (including Tyler Data & Insights instances).

What it supports

  • Dataset landing pages:
    • https://data.ny.gov/.../d6yy-54nr/about_data
    • https://opendata.maryland.gov/dataset/.../i2gq-ynez

How it works

  • Detects the dataset 4x4 identifier
  • Uses the Socrata Open Data API (SODA) where possible
  • Stores:
    • title, description, tags, license
    • landing URL and canonical URL
    • basic resource links

Tyler note

Tyler Technologies often powers portals that are still Socrata-based. You can treat them as:

  • Provider SOCRATA, or
  • Provider TYLER (same ingestion, different label)
